Still, the story of how she came to The Hills is as classic as Hollywood “discovery” tales get. Audrina had been living at the original Hills’ girls apartment for about two months when one day, an MTV producer came to scout the location.
“I was laying out, and he came up to me at the pool,” she recalls. “And he told me about this show… he mentioned [Lauren Conrad’s previous show] Laguna Beach, but I never watched Laguna Beach.” No more than two weeks after Audrina met with the casting agents, “We started filming. A lot! And here I am today.”
No one could be more surprised than Audrina that the show has lasted into their current filming of a fourth season. “It’s crazy how long this has gone on for,” she says. In fact, Patridge seems on the cusp of issuing a personal ultimatum. “After the fourth season, I’m going to kind of try to…” she starts, before making a committing statement. “I mean,” she rephrases, “I don’t want to stay in reality for the rest of my life, I want to venture out and do what I originally moved to LA to do, which is be an actress. And I’m trying to do that while I’m filming The Hills, but it’s really hard and I’ve had to turn down so many amazing opportunities because of my filming schedule. It’s really hard.”
Right now, Patridge is most excited about getting a small role in Into The Blue 2, filming this month in Hawaii. “I play the girlfriend of a hardass who I have wrapped around my finger. I would so much rather play someone else than play myself!”
And while Audrina laughs at the notion that the naked photos might inspire her to dress like a Fundamentalist Mormon from now on, she quickly adds, “I am who I am, and I’m not going to change myself for any of the comments that people say.” So have we seen the last nude photos Audrina will ever take? “For now,” she answers coyly.
